Outreach work
Home visits:
A large number of people from the Asian communities cannot come out of their home due to physical disabilities or family reasons. Therefore, they remain uncatered for by statutory and voluntary agencies. As a matter of policy, Centre workers make visits to nursing homes, sheltered accommodation, care homes and people’s own homes, to make our services accessible to the very people, who need them most.
As the Centre has existed since 1977, quite a lot of our older clients have become house-bound and unable to visit the Centre any more. They are also catered for according to their need.
Liaison:
Because of the nature of our work Centre workers often liase with external agencies, both statutory and non-statutory to maximise services to out clients.
We also refer clients to solicitors, doctors, Environmental Health Services, social workers, police etc. As a matter of policy, clients are only referred externally once the in-house resources have been exhausted or the matter concern is beyond our competence.

Report for 2008/2009.
